Earlier today in Osaka, it was the final day of round robin matchups in the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 30 as Mike Bailey battled fellow points leader, Lio Rush. Bailey hit a running Shooting Star for an early two count. Bailey remained in control with his signature flurry of kicks but Rush turned the tide with a Fisherman’s Falcon Arrow. Rush quickened the pace as he connected with a trio of dives to the floor. Moments later, it was Bailey’s turn to fly as he connected with a springboard corkscrew Moonsault. Bailey drove his knees into the chest of Rush, then locked in an armbar submission. Rush had the next knee strike scouted, which led to an exchange of fists between both competitors. Rush countered the windmill kick into a spear, sending Bailey to the outside. There was a standing Spanish Fly on the floor, followed by a top rope Spanish Fly from Rush but it was not enough to keep Bailey down. Bailey got his boot up on a Frog Splash attempt but Rush connected with Rush Hour instead. Bailey evaded the follow-up Frog Splash, allowing Bailey to capitalize with the Flamingo Driver for three. With this victory, Bailey now sits at 7-2 in the tournament and advances to the semi-finals.
Stay tuned as Mike Bailey’s matchups are added to IMPACT Plus for on-demand viewing.
