Day 2 of the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 30 went down earlier today in Nagano. Just 24 hours removed from his massive victory over IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi, Mike Bailey returned to tournament competition against House of Torture’s SHO. Bailey didn’t even make it to the ring before he was jumped by SHO, who used the cameraman as a shield to blindside “Speedball” during his entrance. SHO immediately targeted the foot of Bailey as he attacked it with a steel chair. SHO then dragged Bailey to the ring the match finally got underway. The underhanded tactics didn’t stop there though as House of Torture member EVIL assaulted Bailey while the referee was distracted by SHO. However, a resilient Bailey would not give up easily. Momentum began to shift when Bailey neutralized EVIL at ringside, then soared with a springboard Moonsault to SHO. But EVIL would continue to get involved, leading to the referee being taken out. SHO then used a wrench on the already-damaged foot of Bailey but somehow, someway, Bailey continued to defy the odds. Bailey eliminated EVIL once and for all, then connected with Ultima Weapon on SHO to score the victory. Bailey now sits at 2-0 in the tournament.
Stay tuned as Mike Bailey’s matchups are added to IMPACT Plus for on-demand viewing.
